The KNQF Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development has been developed in collaboration with international Awarding Organisation ABMA Education, https://abma.uk.com with the specific aim to equip trainees with competencies to offer and promote professional career guidance services. Inadequate, inconsistent, and incomprehensive career guidance services offered has led to skills and field of study mismatch, career misalignment, poor delivery of career information and poor school to work transition programs. As the first of its kind in Kenya and the region, CCGD aims to create a pool of career guidance professionals with competences to help their clients make informed and rewarding career choices. Well trained career guidance professionals will offer expert career guidance services by systematically integrating career guidance competences into schools, colleges, tertiary institutions, universities, youth groups, special needs, and corporate organisations.

Eligibility Criteria:

Open to applicants who have a degree or Diploma in education, human resource, psychology, social work, community development, counselling. Individuals from other fields like finance, engineering, health sciences, among others, whose role include giving advice to students are also eligible.

Mode Of Delivery:

Blended delivery model with a combination of scheduled virtual workshops and other learning activities through the Learning Management System.

Course Duration:

1 year with 8 hours of guided learning per week.

Mercy is the Director of Learning Development & Research at CCGD and Board Member of Career Guidance Institute (The Association of Career Guidance Practitioners in Kenya).  She is an accomplished trained high school teacher and a career guidance and education facilitator with over 20 years’ experience. She has a passion for career information and this has been enhanced by her ability to organize career days, fairs, conferences, training and counselling activities for students and teachers in schools and tertiary institutions. Her effort has influence  in over 35 counties reaching over 500,000 students, 2,000 schools and career teachers. Her interests in career guidance are content development, career resources, career planning and advising.

Nicki Moore

MA Education, SFHEA- Senior Fellow Of The Higher Education Academy, RCDP- Registered Career Development Practitioner

Nicki Moore is the Senior Lecturer in Career Development at the International Centre for Guidance Studies at the University of Derby, UK. She has responsibility for the Centre’s programme of continuing professional development. Nicki is a researcher and writer and regular contributes to industry sector publications. Nicki has worked on a variety of projects including being the lead evaluator for the Gatsby Benchmark pilot in the North east of England and project managing several transnational EU projects. Nicki is particularly interested in the career development and transitions of young people. Nicki is a NICEC Fellow and a Fellow of the CDI. She is a member of the Career Development Institute Board where she leads on the digital strategy. She is currently investigating the potential for career development to become a UK chartered profession.

Polly Wiggins

Polly is an independent careers consultant, speaker and writer with a wealth of experience in a broad range of settings: secondary education, higher education and the private sector. She is a registered careers professional for over twelve years and an associate member of the International Centre for Guidance Studies (iCeGS) UK. Polly has been privileged to work with a wide variety of people over the years and is fascinated by all areas of career development with specialisms in creating careers resources, coaching, the context of career development, and putting theory into practice.

Amy Elizabeth Woolley

MA Education-Guidance Studies, NVQ Level 4 Information Advising & Guidance (IAG), Dip. Careers Guidance, BA-Education Studies

Amy is an experienced careers practitioner for 12 years in different settings: schools, colleges and Higher Education within the UK. She has devised, developed and implemented careers education and services within these settings. She is currently working as Placements, Employability & External Relations Manager, Urban Studies and Planning Department, University of Sheffield whose role is to support students with placements and gaining graduate employment, liaise with external stakeholders to help develop our student’s employability. Amy has special training interests in career advising, mentoring, career guidance for higher education and work setting.
