About Mercy K. Maina

Mercy is an accomplished trained high school teacher and a career guidance and education facilitator with over 20 years’ experience. Her career guidance training journey started in 1997 in response to insufficient career information, poor career guidance and little information on job market. In partnership with Ministry of Education, Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service, Teachers Service Commission and Corporate Organizations, Mercy has organized career days, fairs, conferences, training and counselling activities for students and teachers in schools, colleges, universities and technical institutes to bridge the gap. These have an influence in over 35 counties reaching over 500,000 students, 2,000 schools and career teachers. She has authored a book “How to Become a Top Student”, Career World Magazine and a High School Readiness Booklet (all self-publishing effort).

In her training, Mercy enjoys utilizing reflective and experiential learning activities with use of videos, webinars, short reading and discovery assignments to give the students and other trainees an exceptional experience. Mercy holds a Bachelor of Education Degree, Higher National Diploma in Human Resources Management, Master’s Degree and Post Graduate Diploma in Education. She has completed a PHD in Education - Curriculum and Instruction (an independent study on career guidance and education) from Africa International University, Nairobi, Kenya. She is also a Board Member of Career Guidance Institute (The Association of Career Guidance Practitioners in Kenya).
